Parent Teacher Meeting for Second Years

The Rotas for next Tuesday’s Second Year Parent Teacher Meeting will be distributed today during Tutorial Class. Teachers will call parents on Teams using the student’s Teams account at the designated times, ideally using the device normally used by the pupil. Parents who intend to meet the teachers in person are asked to contact the office today.

Senior Soccer

Hard luck to the senior soccer team who lost their semi-final against Drogheda Grammar School today. Played in tough conditions, both teams gave great displays. With the teams level after 90 minutes and 20 minutes of extra-time, penalties would decide the victors. Unfortunately, Drogheda Grammar School came out on the right side of the shoot out. Again, the team gave an outstanding performance and were unfortunate not to secure a place in the final.

Christmas Jumper Day

Well done to Ms O’Hare’s 6th year Etain group who organised the Christmas Jumper Day. They raised a total of €530 for the Irish Cancer Society. Thanks to all the staff and students who supported this fundraiser.

Second Year Parent Teacher Meeting

This year’s Parent Teacher Meeting for Second Years on Tuesday 17th January will take place online using the student’s Teams account. Parents will be asked to login to an App where they can indicate the teachers with whom they wish to meet. Each meeting will be strictly five minutes maximum in length. The meetings will time out after five minutes. Parents/Guardians/Carers who wish to meet the teacher in school at the appointed time should contact the school office in advance so that this can be facilitated.

To login you will need the School Roll Number and a password which was issued to pupils on Friday 6th January. All preferences should be entered on or before Thursday 12th January. (Ideally, this should be done before Monday 9th January). A rota for the meetings will then be generated and distributed to parents via the pupils on Friday 13th January. Parents/Guardians/Carer who are unable to attend the meeting are asked to indicate this when they login to the app.

It is hoped to cluster the meetings for parents/guardians to a block of time, with intervals of five minutes between each meeting where possible. In order to make the timetabled meetings as user friendly as possible, only examination subjects will be included initially. However, parents/guardians will be able to request meetings with the Physical Education, SPHE, DML, Remedial and Guidance Teachers; and also the Year Heads and Chaplain, by contacting them directly.

The meetings will be held using the student’s Teams account at the times indicated on the rota. Details of this procedure are available on the attached document. A similar version will be distributed to the students on Friday 6th January which will also have their Student ID.

Parents/Guardians/Carers are asked to go to https://ptmorg.com/parentlogin.php?School=91517D where you can enter the School Roll Number 91517D and the Student ID (as on the sheet given to the students)

Please follow the instructions on the sheet (attached/given to the students) to enter the preferences for the appointments or indicate that you are unable to attend the meeting.

I will be sending home a form in the coming days also regarding passport details. I encourage you to check passport dates now so as to avoid any mishaps. Passports must be in date up to our return date on 30th April.

I’m confident that all details are included on the attached sheet, however, as always, I’m available via email or phone if you have any concerns or questions. Payment questions can be directed to Eoin at Camino Groups eoin@caminogroups.ie

MS Dream Space Academy Day 2

Our 5th year students received a very warm and festive welcome back to Microsoft today to complete challenges including the Marble Run Challenge and Microbit Physical Computing and Coding Challenge . The creativity within the group was really challenged too as students had the chance to design and test their own code today. Students were commended on their team efforts and participation in the activities.

We were then treated to great presentation and tour by Amanda. Career opportunities were discussed and students saw first hand what it is like to work in one of the largest Tech headquarters in Ireland. Well worth the extra effort this Christmas week.
Excited and really looking forward to our 3rd visit in March when our students will get the chance to complete the MS Academy and receive their certification.
