Senior Cycle Business Students Visit

5th and 6th year students had a very interesting visit to The European Commission Representation in Ireland recently. We were treated to a very informative presentation about the EU with topics chosen in advance to specifically cater for some of the LC Business Course. Students had an opportunity to ask questions and were encouraged to give their opinions on matters such as CAP, the Directives currently affecting Ireland and the topic of Energy was high on the Agenda.

Students were given information regarding the various career opportunities that exist for Irish students in the European Headquarters in Brussels and opportunities for work experience at the other Representative Offices around Europe.

A quiz followed for which we were certainly prepared. Nicola was extremely impressed by the knowledge displayed by our Business students.

The European Commission Representation in Ireland serves as the Commission’s voice in Ireland, aiming to communicate EU affairs at both national and local level. It’s mission is to engage with Irish citizens, institutions, and stakeholders, providing information about EU policies, initiatives, and programs.

It informs citizens about European elections, such as the upcoming elections on 7th May 2024.

Berlin School Tour

2nd and 3rd year Business and German students toured the BMW motorbike factory in Berlin this week learning about sustainability and seeing first hand the digitalisation of production processes in a modern campus producing 900 bikes per week shipping them all over the world.
Students witnessed robotics in operation throughout the factory and were amazed to actually get to see the full process of producing a BMW motorbike from parts to the finished customised pieces….
We saw the finished products being road tested and our guide gave us a fantastic presentation into the distribution processes and spoke of minimising risks in production and the many advantages of the robotic processes in place. Ms Mooney, Mr Fox, Ms Gallgher and Ms Gillic accompanied the students.
