Safer Internet Day

Hi everyone,

Just taking this opportunity on ‘ Safer Internet Day ‘ for a little update on what’s happening in DML in Junior Cycle.

Safer Internet Day is an annual event celebrated globally on the second day of the 2nd week of February with the aim of promoting a safer and better internet for all users. The theme for 2023 is “Want to talk about it? Making space for conversations about life online”.

The Safer Internet Day slogan of “Together for a better internet” encourages everyone to join the movement, to participate, and to make the most of the internet’s potential to bring people together.

As you may know students take DML as a short course with 1 hour each week  encouraging positive use of social media and the internet and cover topics from Fake News , Digital Footprint, Cyber Bullying, Privacy issues etc. The team of teachers involved in delivering the course with me are Ms Mc Grory, Ms  O’ Hare and  Ms Leanne Barrett.

Some of the activities happening presently/ near future :

  • First Years –Competiton this week to design an internet Safety Message on a sticker using Canva in each DML class. The winning sticker will be printed for the class to place on their devices. Webwise have supplied us with some wrist bands for some First Years too.
