High Hopes Take Flight with SOAR – Pics

By Megan Broughill (TY)

The Transition Year class completed a SOAR foundation ‘Ignite Workshop’ on Youth Empowerment, Wellbeing and Mental Health on Tuesday September 30th.

The SOAR ‘Ignite’ program is an interactive, strengths-based workshop designed to build confidence, self-awareness and resilience in young people. Through facilitated activities and reflective discussion, the students were encouraged to explore personal values, choices and positive goal setting in a safe, supportive environment.

The programme focused on a range of relevant issues including confidence and self-belief, personal responsibility and making good choices, communication, empathy and peer support, simple well-being strategies and reactive goal-setting for TY and beyond.

Students also participated in the structured learning exercises such as ‘Sit Up Sit Down’, and ‘Step to the Line’.The group reflected on the rights of mental health and well-being and had a chance to learn about each other more.

The students enjoyed their dayand got a lot from the whole experience having all participated very well in the workshop.
