Back to Broadway – Only a Few Weeks to Go!

Athboy C.S presents ‘Back to Broadway’, a medley of scenes from well–known musicals which runs in the school for three nights from February 25th-27th. Tickets cost just €15 and will sell fast so to avoid disappointment, buy online or pick up from the front office, Ph. 046-9487894. Pictured are first year students Mille Robinson and Jenny Bradley, cast members in the show. 

 We hope to profile one of the cast each week as the run approaches. This week it is T.Y. student Nikas Tupikas. 

“Hi, my name is Nikas. My role in ‘Back to Broadway’ is Kenickie in the ‘Grease’ section of the show. This is my first time on stage and to be honest, before this year I had never really thought about being in a musical. But when we got into Transition Year a lot of my friends were signing up for it, so I decided to give it a shot! So far I’m loving it, and my favourite segment is ‘Greased Lightin’ mostly because of the dance!”

Over 130 students will be on stage during this two hour extravaganza featuring unforgettable songs from musicals like Grease, Les Miserables, Wicked, Six, Mathilda and The Little Mermaid. 

Rehearsals have been ongoing since late September and things are really heating up as the weeks have ticked by. With professional lighting and sound, the school’s General Purpose Area will be turned, as usual, into a fitting auditorium. Make sure to pick up your tickets for what promises to be a great night’s entertainment!
