Bernard Casey Visits Athboy C.S Transition Years- Pics

By Megan Broughilll, TY
The TY’s in Athboy C.S. got to experience a drama workshop by comedian, actor and drama teacher Bernard Casey on Wednesday the 29th of April. The students were split into two groups, each enjoying a two hour workshop.

Mr. Casey first played an organisation game to test creativity and awareness involving making shapes by sorting the group from youngest to oldest in diagonal lines, then by using the first letter of students names, then lastly forming triangles from who lives closest to the school. Then, to test memory they had to randomly go into those lines.

The students then got arranged into groups of five to create drama scenarios like a house, a horse race, an ambulance situation and a news station. The groups then changed around and they made random scenarios that had to end in “Would you like a cup of tea?”!

Afterwards, they arranged into a semi-circle, and two students at a time were given a random scenario by Mr. Casey, whereby they had to use their imagination to make the scenario come to life.

Finally the students made their own advertisements for random things like ‘Kids Away Spray’, and many more ideas. The day was full of laughs and fun and helped the TY students to work together and step out of their comfort zone.
