European Day of Languages

Tomorrow September 26th, language students all over Europe will be celebrating The European Day of Languages. The German, French, Italian and EAL students of Athboy CS have been marking this event all week with activities and games.

First year students enjoyed online language games and competed in a class quiz. They also worked on language activity booklets.

Second year French and German students partnered up in a language ‘mash up’. They enjoyed learning a few new phrases in another language and designed posters in the new language.

Third year students researched a European country they would like to visit or have family ties to and translated a few sentences into their native language.

Fifth year German and French students enjoyed online language activity games. German students researched the most popular sightseeing attractions in the German speaking countries.

TY French students researched French speaking colonies, while TY German students researched German companies that are known worldwide. TY Italian students created colourful posters with common phrases.

Sixth year students joined up and were treated to ‘Kaffee und Kuchen’ and ‘Café et Croissants’.
