ACS Student Council

February 5, 2026

The Student Council in Athboy C.S. have been busy over the past few weeks producing a full colour newsletter packed full of pictures and articles about their activities so far this academic year.

A sub-committee was formed to collate all the pictures and articles, but the newsletter was edited, designed and formatted by TY student Savanagh Reilly.

A sub-committee of the officers of the Student Council met with the Parents Association on Tuesday, 5th, to present the Newsletter and also to outline the work that the Student Council have been doing since the beginning of the year.

The Council President, Erin Melligan, spoke about the election process and how members put their names forward and were chosen. She also outlined the work the Student Council had done on the Hallowe’en Dress-Up Day and the Shoebox Appeal in December. Erin also spoke about Meath Comhairle na nOg and how delegations from the school have been attending this since September.

Vice President Nenyasha Maticha spoke about how the officers of the council were elected, how a new Student Council Constitution was drafted and the work the Council did in organising Multi-Cultural Week in December and translating the Child Protection Statement into over 20 languages to reflect the diversity of the school community.

Council Secretary Walter Duffy spoke about the Stand Up Week the Council ran in October and meetings with Brenda Bradley, a representative from Jigsaw, who visited the school afterwards, following fundraising activities.

The Student Council would like to thank the Parents Association and Principal Miss Garrihy for the invitation to their meeting, and hope everyone enjoys the Newsletter that has been shared.
