African Drums Workshop

Today, the Transition Years, LCA’s and First Years did a workshop on drumming with David Day of JabbaJabbaJembe. This represented the final event in this years Multi-Cultural Week in the school organised by the Student Council. The workshop took an hour for each class group. 

The workshop was based around about African drums, the Jembe was the melody, alongside some bass, and deeper sounds. Many of those were played by hand, but some were played with sticks. 

The workshop essentially took students from novices to experts in that hour! Banging on those drums turned out to be more fun than anyone present could have thought. It was incredibly enjoyable. 

David really accentuated the experience, made it relatable and fun for all of the participants.
