We hope to profile some of the cast each week as the run approaches. This week it is 2nd Year students Louisa Scully, Caoimhe O’Brien, Leah Craig, Kim Geraghty and Aine Masterson who are all in second year and in the ‘Wicked’ segment of the musical.
“Hi, my name is Louisa, I’m a dancer and singer for two songs, ‘One Short Day’ and my favourite song in the production, ‘What Is This Feeling?’ This is not my first time on stage. I was in Killallon Drama, Fit Kids Fit Teens, and I performed dance and guitar on stage in St. James Hall in Athboy on a couple of occasions. I’m looking forward to the musical because it will be fun and something exciting to do!”
“Hello, I’m Caoimhe. My favourite song from this section of the musical is ‘Loathing’. This is my first time on stage and I am looking forward to it because I am dancing to my favourite song with my friends, and my family are coming to see me.”
“My name is Leah. My favourite song is ‘What is this Feeling?’ I’m a championship Irish dancer so I compete up to 3 times monthly on stage. I’m looking forward to the musical because being on stage is a form of expression and it’s exciting to be able to perform and make all our hard work pay off!”
“My name is Kim Geraghty. In the musical I am one of Glinda’s admirers in the ‘Wicked’ segment. My favourite song in it is “What is this feeling?”. This is my first time on stage, and I’m really enjoying performing. At first, I wasn’t too sure if I would be into it but in the end, I have been surprised at how much I’ve loved it! It has given me more confidence in myself.”
“Hello my name is Áine. I’m in the musical this year as a dancer in the Wicked part of the musical. My favourite song is ‘Loathing.’ This is my first time to do anything like this and I am looking forward to it. I’m excited both to be going on stage and having fun backstage.”
Over 130 students will be on stage during this two hour extravaganza featuring unforgettable songs from musicals like Grease, Les Miserables, Wicked, Six, Mathilda and The Little Mermaid.
Rehearsals have been ongoing since late September and things are really heating up as the weeks have ticked by. With professional lighting and sound, the school’s General Purpose Area will be turned, as usual, into a fitting auditorium. Make sure to pick up your tickets for what promises to be a great night’s entertainment!
