The school would like to wish 3rd Year student Liam O’Brien well in the First Round of the British Autograss Series this weekend.
Liam races a Junior Special in a motorsport called Autograss. This class of car consists of a steel chassis with a 1200cc engine. He is 2025 Junior Special Champion in Northern Ireland and is currently leading in his class in the All-Ireland series.
He races in large events in the UK called the British Autograss Series which would see over 500 cars across different classes. Liam will be competing with 60 other Junior Special drivers over 5 rounds with the first round in West Waterford Autograss Club this weekend.
Liam had many heat wins last year in the U.K. and came 4th and 5th in two finals. Liam’s local club is Down Autograss. He started out Karting and went on to Autograss which his family had raced previously. He races in tracks in Cork, Waterford, Carlow and in Northern Ireland also. Liam hopes to compete in Drifting (drift masters ) U.K. and Europe when he’s older. His sister Eimear is also following in his footsteps as she is now competing alongside him. The British Autograss Series will be live streamed on YouTube on Saturday where all racing can be watched.
Best of luck Liam from all at Athboy Community School.
