Open Night in Athboy C.S.- Pics

By Erin Melligan, TY

On Thursday 2nd of October, Athboy Community School opened its doors for their annual Open Night for incoming first year students and parents.

We had a huge turnout of interested prospective students and families. In the GPA some of our talented students played music and sang, and we also had Student Council and Student Leadership Roles stands where students and parents could learn about the duties they each have and what they do. There was tea and coffee for all courtesy of the Parents Council.

All the teachers and students put in a huge effort to decorate their classrooms, create displays and set up interactive activities for incoming students to do as they toured the classrooms. There were also live demonstrations done by students such as singing and music in the music room and baking scones in the kitchen.

Students from each year group gave tours of the school to incoming students and families, showing them around the building and explaining what happens in each classroom and answering questions that anyone had.

The refurbished Nurture Room, Library, and Computer Lab 3 were also open for viewing, and the Principal, Miss Garrihy, delivered presentations in the Lecture Room.

Overall, it was a very successful night with very high footfall, and all the families were very impressed with the fantastic school facilities and the students, who were so very involved in the success of the Open Night. The school took in more application forms than ever before so a high number of applications for Sep 2026 are expected.

Athboy C.S.enrolment period began on 1st October and will end on 31st October.
