Transition Year Graduation Ceremony- Pics

Congratulations to the 79transition year students in Athboy Community School who Graduated in a lovely ceremony in the General Purpose Area on Monday May 25th. All around the GPA the students’ art and craftwork and coursework were on display to highlight the richness and variety of the experience the group had throughout the year.
The ceremony, hosted by year head Mr. Hurley and Tutors Mr. Mahon, Miss Farrelly and Miss Vaughan saw each student presented with a folder of all their achievements for the year. We were joined at the Graduation by the Navan Toastmasters, Mary and Michael. Michael spoke about our amazing TY group and how much they embraced the opportunity to learn about public speaking.
A major highlight of the evening was the incredible contribution of the TY Toastmasters participants, who took charge of running the graduation ceremony. Erin Melligan acted as MC for the evening and guided the ceremony with confidence, professionalism and warmth. Throughout the night, the Toastmasters students delivered speeches and presentations which reflected the growth in confidence, communication skills and maturity that the students developed during their TY experience. Their performances were a credit to themselves and showcased the success of the Toastmasters programme within the school.
Earlier that day, the school honoured those who received Subject Excellence Awards across the year group – congratulations to all of the students who were recognised for their commitment and effort.
Work Experience plaques were presented to Padraig Englishby and Linas Archipovas in Ash, Owen McConnell and Emeline Hood in Beech and Tara Fay and Ryan Farrell in Cedar.
Each Tutor along with the Year Head carefully considered the student in each class group who has excelled in their Asset Portfolios and who stand out as leaders, as being role models and as demonstrating personal growth. The Tutor Award for Ash went to Shauna Revington, in Beech it went to Owen McConell and in Cedar the Tutor Award winner is Nikas Tupikas.
The Care Award for demonstrating care, empathy and kindness in all of their interactions with students and staff was presented to Alex Darcy.
The Creativity Award celebrating the student who has shared their creativity, innovation, expression, and fresh thinking for the betterment of the school community was presented to Savanagh Reilly.
The Student of the Year Award linked to the school Learning Code and Asset Portfolios, recognises students who have shown outstanding growth, leadership, and personal responsibility. The TY Student of the Year is Sam Doyle.
Congratulations to all the award winners and to each and every one of the graduating T.Y. class of 2026.
