Una Leonard Visits Athboy C.S.- Pics

By Saoirse Meagher, 5th Year

Athboy Community School was delighted to welcome back past pupil Una Leonard who she spoke to 5th year LCVP,  Business, Accounting and LCA students about her journey and the challenges faced along the way in setting up her highly successful business, ‘2210 Patisserie’ located in Mullingar and Powerscourt Centre, Dublin.

Una is also the author of two very successful best-selling books, ‘Sweet Therapy: The Joy of Baking’ and ‘Good Together: Delicious Recipes for the Moments That Matter. Some of students were lucky enough to receive a copy.

Una, a past pupil of Athboy Community School, took students on her business journey. She explained how the hard work, belief and patience she had for her craft enabled the patisserie to be as successful as it is today.

Una is a role model to all people new to the business industry. She spoke to the students about how she started off, with no experience of owning a business, and worked very hard to build up a business that is thriving today.

The 5th year students enjoyed listening to Una’s journey and her experiences, and gained many new insights about building and setting up a business, including never giving up no matter how hard the journey is. She also took the time to visit and bake along with some third year Home Economics students and Ms Lynch and Miss McRedmond who were busy trying out some of Una’s recipes.

The students would like to thank Ms Mooney for setting up the visit and of course Una Leonard for taking the time to visit Athboy C.S and sharing her inspiring journey with them.
