At ACS, our Green-Schools Committee is working towards achieving our first Green Flag on the theme of Litter & Waste. Our committee is made up of students from all year groups as well teachers and our school’s facility manager.
In working towards our first green flag our Green Schools Committee has been busy. Committee members have reorganised the labelling and layout of our school’s bins, conducted regular litter-picking sessions, monitored litter black spots and the school’s waste costs.
One initiative our students held was a motto and logo competition, and our resulting motto is “Think Green, Keep Athboy CS Clean!”. The team have been focusing not only on promoting recycling and cutting down on waste production but also on reusing our waste. Our team supports the Junk Kouture students and works with staff to find ways of reusing waste, our Green Schools team even had a stall at this year’s Spring Craft Fair.
The next steps for our Green-Schools committee is to plan our “Green Week” for early next year to help the entire school community focus more on recycling and cutting down on waste. If you want to “Think Green” and help “Keep Athboy CS Clean” please come along to one of our meetings held in the library on Wednesday’s at lunchtime. Everyone is welcome, we hope to see you there!
