On Wednesday 5th of November, 76 Leaving Cert English students from Athboy Community School and teachers Miss O’Mahony, Miss Hynes, Mr. Magner and Miss.Toner travelled to Athlone to see Macbeth in the Dean Crowe Theatre.
‘The Scottish Play’ was performed by the Gaiety School of Acting Company with Will Wollen directing. The students thoroughly enjoyed the production and the workshop afterwards which included a lively and engaging Questions & Answers session with the cast of actors on the background and historical context of the play, aspects of that day’s production, the key themes, key scenes and moments, and key characters of the play,
Each student was also given a Macbeth Handbook on the day to aid revision and study. The students are studying Macbeth as part of their English course this year and found today’s trip very helpful.
