Maths Week Riddle #5

It’s the last day of Maths Week, and we’ve got one final challenge to test your thinking!

In yesterday’s riddle we asked:

Move exactly two matchsticks to make the equation correct.

Answer… Move the vertical matchstick from the addition symbol to first digit to create number 9. Move the middle matchstick from the digit 8 (now creating 0) and move it to the second digit to create the number 9. Equation now reads 9-9=0. Well done to everyone who figured it out!

Now time for our final riddle of the week:

A man has to get a fox, a chicken, and a bag of corn across a river. He has a rowboat, and it can only carry him and one other item. If the fox and the chicken are left together, the fox will eat the chicken. If the chicken and the corn are left together, the chicken will eat the corn. How can the man get all items across the river safely?
