Multi-Cultural Week kicked off in Athboy Community School with a spectacular, colourful, vibrant Flag Day in the school. Athboy Community School has students and staff from or descended from over 30 nations, numbering around 100 people, and Multi-Cultural Week aims to celebrate this.
The day began with an address over the school’s P.A system in English, Irish and Ukrainian by Student Council P.R.O’s Isobel Canty and Yeva Mariash welcoming students to Multi-Cultural Week.
Miss Leddy and Mr. Magner organised a Flag March at lunchtime where a representative from all the different backgrounds in the school carried their flag and marched along to music from around the world, parading the flags in the GPA. There are many more events planned for Multi-Cultural week but the Flag Day marked the Opening Ceremony.
