We have created a vibrant and colourful website to reflect the culture and ethos of our school community. It is our goal that our core values of Care, Inclusion, Safety, Creativity and Respect, which we work hard to embed in our school, are visible throughout these pages.

The Mission Statement which we updated in consultation with our whole school community is our best attempt to put into words the work we do and the values we live every day.

It reads:
“Athboy Community School prides itself on creating a safe, caring, creative and culturally diverse environment and on offering an innovative curriculum which challenges students to achieve their full potential.
We promote an open culture in which relationships between staff and students are prioritised.
We commend and reward positive behaviour and encourage student participation in all aspects of school life so they can flourish academically, physically, emotionally, spiritually and psychologically.”

Teaching and Learning is our constant focus and we engage in very effective cycles of School Self Evaluation and School Improvement to constantly tweak how we do things to increase student attainment and student achievement. We employ a Univeral Design for Learning Approach to inclusion in the classroom to ensure that content is accessible to students of all abilities and backgrounds.

Our curriculum offers as many subjects, short courses and modules as possible in order to appeal to all students and give opportunities to pursue different interests and goals.

Our students and staff members are highly valued and supported. A Restorative Practice System is being rolled over 2024-27 to allow us to reflect on and ensure positive and healthy relationships between all members of our school community.

A safe environment is our priority in terms of physical, psychological and cyber safety for our students. We have in place policies which protect students from negative interactions in person and online. We implement clear procedures to deal with interpersonal issues and to safeguard students online by restricting phone access during school day.

Our Care Team is composed of dedicated staff members and external experts to ensure that we offer a wide variety of supports for our students and staff.

The Extra Curricular offering is incredibly broad and caters to the many talents and skills our students and staff possess.

We hope that the content in our website gives you a sense of what it is like to be a student or staff member in Athboy Community School.
