Athboy CS 1-14

Dunboyne 3-5

The Athboy senior camogie team had a hard-fought but well-earned win over Dunboyne yesterday (Oct 22nd). Mylah Carolan got the scoreboard ticking over with the opening score of the game. This was followed by excellent points from Áine Meagher, Saoirse Meagher and Ellen Bray, before Katie Hendrick found the back of the net with a well-taken goal. The girls’ hard work and determination paid off, as they went into half-time with a well-earned lead.

Despite the strong challenge from Dunboyne in the second half, the girls showed great determination throughout. Chara Burke and Daisy Mulvaney worked tirelessly in the middle of the field. The backs were excellent throughout, with some excellent passages of play from Laura Duffy, Ellen Bray and Maisie Reilly, while Caoimhe Heaney did very well between the posts despite being under pressure. Up front, the forwards continued to produce some excellent scores when it mattered most, with Saoirse Meagher putting in a fantastic performance to earn Player of the Match.

After a tough battle from start to finish, the girls’ teamwork and determination saw them over the line to secure a fantastic three-point victory. Well done to all concerned and to coaches Ms. Dowling and Ms. O’Reilly.
