Athboy C.S 49-20 Colaiste de Lacy

On Wednesday 15th October 3rd year basketball girls took on Coláiste de Lacy in Athboy. The team was coached by Mr Mahon and captained by Melissa Clarke. The starting team for the 1st quarter was Melissa Clarke, Chloe Doherty, Ciara Boylan, Nenyasha Maticha and Clara Guillen. Emer Dullaghan and Yeva Mariash were subbed on throughout the quarter. Melissa, Chloe and Clara all scored brilliant points giving the team a great start.  

Into the 2nd quarter Samantha Taylor, Blathnaid Walsh, Melissa Clarke, Clara Guillen and Ciara Boylan started for the team with Sophie Kelly and Aine Boyle being subbed on throughout. Clara, Blathnaid and Ciara all got great scores and by half time Athboy were up 31-3 by halftime. 

During halftime the girls got a powerful pep talk from coach and teacher Mr Mahon and team captain Melissa Clarke gave good pointers. 

For the 3rd quarter Sophie Kelly, Bridget Kate O’Donnell, Emer Dullaghan, Chloe Doherty and Ella McNally started for Athboy with Rebecca Pentony subbed on. Chloe scored an amazing point bringing the 3rd quarter to an end.  

As the last quarter began Emer Dullaghan, Samantha Taylor, Nenyasha Maticha, Ciara Boylan and Clara started with Yeva Mariash, Sophie Kelly, Blathnaid Walsh, Melissa Clarke and Aine Boyle being subbed on throughout the quarter. Ciara, Clara and Melissa all got fine scores bringing the final score to 49-20 

Overall the team played really well getting a well-deserved win and Melissa Clarke was named Player of the Match.
