On Thursday the 12th of March, the Athboy C.S Transition Year students involved in the Rubbish Film Festival back in October went to the Solstice Theatre in Navan where they met up with all the other students from schools all across Meath taking part in the film festival.
The festival started off with thanks being given to the students for taking part and putting in so much effort, the people like James who helped each of the schools make their movies, the staff of the Solstice for letting them host it there and Meath County Council.
Before each of the films were shown, students representing each school were invited to come up on the stage in front of their film poster which was on display and talk about their film. The students gave a synopsis of their film and some linked it to one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, e.g. Climate Action.
There were 15 films in total and they were all great to watch, we could tell a lot of fun and effort was put into each one.
Although we were disappointed that Athboy did not win an award, the experience in making the film was hugely rewarding and enjoyable and everyone involved was glad they had the opportunity to take part in the Rubbish Film Festival.
All of the students would like to thank the teachers involved, particularly Mr. Mills for his help, guidance and support.
