Yesterday the U17 boys soccer team played a great game against Coláiste Chú Chulainn Dundalk. The first half was an intense affair with Cillian Griffin scoring the first goal for Athboy, but before the break the visitors levelled the game at 1-1.
After a motivational and inspiring pep talk from coach and teacher Mr Mahon at half time, the boys continued to play their best after the break but despite both teams putting a brilliant performance, neither could find the winner in the 90 minutes.
The game went to extra time with Briain Smith scoring the decisive goal for Athboy, a fantastic long-range strike from well outside the box.

Overall this was a superb, closely fought game. Well done to the boys and Mr. Mahon who are now through to a Leinster quarter final.
