On the 19th May, prefects Neila Mc Keogh and Ciara Gavigan ran a basketball tournament in honour of beloved teacher Shannon Watson. The girls had been trained by Shannon and wanted to do something to honour her memory.
They organised the tournament with the help of Ms. Di Lucia. 90 students were involved from 2nd year to 6th year all of whom had a connection to Ms Watson. After two sets of heats, four teams made it through to the semi-finals and then two teams, blue and yellow made it to the final. While both teams put in a great effort, in the end the Yellow team were victorious.
All members of the school community were invited to wear red on the day and a collection was made for the Irish Heart Foundation. A total of €380.75 was raised.
A small ceremony was then held in the school last week where a tree was planted in Ms Watson’s honour. It was attended by second years and many of the staff.
