I am Adam Kearney, a past student of Athboy Community School. I completed the Leaving Certificate in 2025. I am now in University College Dublin studying Economics and Philosophy. Secondary school prepared me for college by giving me time management skills, organisation and planning skills. The emphasis on group work in Athboy developed my teamwork and communication skills to a high level. These skills are important in college so as to be able to work on projects with peers, attend public speaking events, as well as communicating with professors and faculty. In college, I’ve had modules including Macroeconomics, Criminal Procedure, Neuroscience, critical thinking, Ethics, Modern Philosophy, and an introduction to Economics, just to name a few. I’ve had the opportunity to attend masterclasses in other subject areas such as sales, law, and Business. I am a real advocate of UCD as a place to study. I have developed so many lasting relationships and connections from college that have really been impactful. Joining societies and sports clubs has given me new experiences and new perspectives. I am hopeful of receiving both Social Science academic awards and a first-class honours degree. With this, I aim to further my education in Economics and pursue a Master's at UCD. One thing I know is that working hard at what you do and putting yourself out there are the main things that gave me the biggest chance of success in Athboy C.S., as well as now in college.

Hi, I'm Sophie and I graduated from Athboy CS in 2013. I loved my time at ACS because I always felt supported by my teachers. Their dedication and encouragement helped me thrive academically and personally. The friendships I made and the inclusive atmosphere truly enriched my school experience. After ACS, I went to college at Marino Institute of Education and qualified as a Primary School Teacher in 2017. Teaching has always been a passion of mine and brings me immense joy and fulfillment. Since qualifying, I have worked in Navan Educate Together N.S. where I’ve enjoyed creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for my students. In 2019, I went back to college part-time at Dublin Art Therapy College and I am qualifying this year as an Integrative Counsellor and Art Therapist. I've been volunteering in SOSAD in Navan, and currently, I am working with adults, which has been an enriching experience. I hope to complete my Masters in Child and Adult Art Psychotherapy in July 2025. This next step excites me as I aim to combine my love for teaching and my passion for art therapy to make a positive impact on the lives of both children and adults.

This is actually going to sound cheesy, but I really loved school, I made friends and relationships that I still hold close to me to this day. Really amazing teachers who inspired me to step in the kitchen and follow my passion. Athboy was like another family for me, they really allowed me to find my own path and I wouldn’t be where I am if I wasn’t for my business teacher getting me my first job in a kitchen!

I enjoyed every minute of my time in Athboy Community School. I made great memories and found my best friends there. The support I received in my 5 years in the school gave me a great platform to succeed in my career.
