TY First Aid Course

In recent days, the TY students in Athboy C.S. had the chance to take part in a First Aid course with John & Fiona. The course gave the students information about different illnesses and medical emergencies such as asthma, epilepsy and diabetes. They found out how to spot the signs and symptoms of these conditions and learned what steps to take to give first aid.

The students were taught how to react in serious situations, like cardiac arrest. They were shown how to correctly administer CPR by practicing on CPR dummies, which helped them feel more confident. They also learned how to put a person into the recovery position after they have become unconscious but are still breathing. The pupils learned how important this is while waiting for paramedics or other medical help to arrive.

The course was very helpful and gave our TY students valuable knowledge, knowledge that could help them stay calm and act quickly in an emergency.
